| Established in 2005 as a group activity to raise money for Battered Womens Resources Inc., Friends Against Violence came together to create Turkey Party. The idea was originated by FAV founder, Kyle Provost. Provost and his friends raised $600 by raffling off several prizes from local businesses. It was a small event with nearly fifty people attending. However, the lasting effect from that event has carried FAV into a stronger and more important organization. Our methods of fundraising are completely word of mouth, using family, friends, and co workers to rely on their support. We feel that there is a tremendous support potential among the people that are closest to us. FAV expands on that ideology and generates new and fun ways to raise the support. In 2007, Friends Against Violence announces its new website and other online capabilities. FAV will include a new "Friends" feature that will allow individuals who have donated time, or money, the opportunity to create an online profile. It will display a bio of the individual, which organizations they have donated to, and contact information. Overall, Friends Against Violence will allow the opportunity for everyone to be a part of charity work, in all forms. The networking possibilities are endless and the hope is to provide information and an outlet for someone who wants to give back to a great cause. Friends Against Violence wants you as a Friend today to help in the effort of preventing violence all over the world. |
